Hurt. Heart.
Two words that, on the surface, seem worlds apart. Yet, they are often intertwined in the most intimate and profound ways.
My heart hurts.
It’s as if the ache resides in the very core of who I am—this pulsing organ that beats with life, but also with sorrow. Hurt, but it’s in my heart. The words seem different, don’t they? "Heart"—love, happiness, kindness. It’s the symbol of everything beautiful, soft, and warm. And then "hurt"—a sharp, jagged feeling that seems to threaten the very thing the heart represents.
But in reality, these two are not so different. The heart can love, yes, but it can also ache. It can hold joy, but it can also feel pain. It is a space where both light and shadow coexist, and sometimes they bleed into one another in ways we can't explain.
To understand this is one thing. Anyone can know something. Anyone can read the words, learn the concept, understand it intellectually. But not everyone can feel it. Not everyone can understand it in their body, in their heart, as much as they do in their mind. That’s the difference between knowing and truly understanding—living it, feeling it, breathing it in your very soul.
This is what I long for. I want people in my life who live from their hearts, not just from their knowing. I want those who feel it deeply—not as a concept, but as a truth that they embody. Their heart’s desire, their heart’s knowing, should resonate through their every word and action.
Because when you know something in your heart, you don't just understand the beauty of love. You also understand the beauty of its fragility. You understand that the heart is not just a vessel for joy, but also for pain. You understand that to truly experience the fullness of life, you must let both in.
The heart is not afraid of hurt. It does not shy away from it. It holds space for both light and darkness, knowing that one cannot exist without the other. Without the hurt, there would be no appreciation for the love. Without the pain, there would be no depth to the joy.
So yes, hurt and heart. They go hand in hand. And in this delicate dance between the two, we find the truest essence of what it means to be human. To love fully, to hurt deeply, and to live with a heart wide open.
